İlhami SIĞIRCI (Prof. Dr.) received his BA (1991) from Cumhuriyet University, graduating first in his class, and his MA (1996) and PhD (1999) in Linguistics from the University of Toulouse-Jean Jaurès, both on a YÖK scholarship. He became an associate professor in 2006 and a full professor in 2011.
He has lectured at numerous universities in Turkey and abroad (University of Almeria, University of Blida, University of Rouen Normandy, University of Silesia, University of Galati, University of Liege). He focuses his research particularly on the philosophy of translation, history of translation, linguistics, and semiotics, and serves as a reviewer for numerous international journals. To date, he has chaired four international congresses and has undertaken joint projects with TÜBİTAK and the Ministry of European Union Affairs. He is the author of numerous books, the most well-known of which are: Philosophy of Translation, World History of Translation on the Path to the Great Awakening, Applications of Semiotics, Translating French Texts from Theory to Practice, French Methods of Expression: From Letters to Sounds, and Phonology. Sentence Forms in French: Translation Methods, and a Guide to Using Prepositions and Conjunctions in French. In addition to these books, he has published articles nationally and internationally in the fields of translation, linguistics, semiotics, and phonology, and has presented numerous papers at national and international congresses. He received the 2022 Söylem Philology Award.
