The new book by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burcu TEKİN, one of our faculty members in the department, titled “Fantastic Elements in 20th-Century Latin American Short Stories,” is now available to readers.

The study examines the development of the concept of the fantastic in 20th-century Latin American short stories and the relationship between supernatural elements and everyday reality. Based on Tzvetan Todorov’s theory of the fantastic, the book analyzes how the fantastic effect is established through narrative strategies, using selected stories by Leopoldo Lugones, Horacio Quiroga, Julio Cortázar, Amparo Dávila, and Silvina Ocampo.
